Circumcision
Circumcision, circumcision is the process of removing the skin covering the head of the penis and making the tip of penis visible. Circumcision is performed for religious reasons or for medical reasons, as in Muslim and Jewish communities. Inflammation of the foreskin and closure of the opening at the end of the foreskin is called phimosis. Phimosis is also known as “bitiklik” in common. This is the one of the main medical reason for requiring circumcision.
When should the circumcision be performed?
If circumcision is not a medical necessity, it is recommended that it be done before 2 years of age or after 6 years of age. But if there is a medical necessity, it can always be done.
How is the circumcision done?
Circumcision should be performed under local anesthesia (regional anesthesia of the penis) or general anesthesia (complete anesthesia) in the operating room environment. There are many circumcision techniques, all of which aim to cut the foreskin, control the bleeding and sew the cut ends.
